Terms of use

Last updated August 13, 2026

Visit Milo, Maine is run by Friends of Milo, a volunteer committee. These are the rules for posting to it and the things it doesn’t promise.

What this site is

One place for what’s happening in and around Milo, Maine: a community calendar, a business directory, and information for people visiting. Residents send things in, two volunteer moderators from town read every submission, and approved items appear. Using the site means you’re fine with what’s on this page.

Posting an event

Anybody can submit an event. When you do, you’re saying that:

  • The event is real and the details are accurate.
  • It’s happening in Milo or close enough that people here would drive to it.
  • It’s yours to post, or the people running it are fine with you posting it.
  • Anything you wrote is yours to publish, including any photo you attach.

Nothing goes up automatically. A moderator reads every submission first, and they can reject anything without giving a reason. They can also edit an event for length, spelling, or accuracy, or take one down after it’s been published. They’re volunteers doing this for the town, so give them a day or two.

What doesn’t belong here

  • Advertising dressed up as an event.
  • Anything you know to be false, including a date you’re guessing at.
  • Anything that harasses, threatens, or attacks a person or a group.
  • Anything illegal, or anything organizing something illegal.
  • Somebody else’s personal information, phone number, or address without them saying it’s fine.
  • Political campaigning. Town meetings and public hearings are events and belong on the calendar; campaigning for a candidate does not.

There are no comments anywhere on this site, and that’s on purpose. It’s a calendar and a directory, not a place to argue.

What you post stays yours

You keep whatever you write or photograph. By sending it in you give Friends of Milo permission to publish it on this site and to use it in materials promoting the town, including the grant work this site supports. You can ask for it to be taken down.

The business directory

A listing in the directory isn’t an endorsement and it isn’t paid placement. Details come from the businesses themselves and from public sources, and small-town business details go stale fast: hours change, phones change, places close. If a listing is wrong or shouldn’t be there, write to hello@visitmilomaine.org and it gets fixed.

Text messages

The site texts its two volunteer moderators when a submission needs review, and only if they have turned that on themselves. Nobody else gets a text and there’s nothing for the public to sign up for. A moderator can reply STOP to end them or HELP for contact information. Message and data rates may apply. The privacy policy covers what’s in those messages and what happens to the number.

What this site doesn’t promise

The information here is as good as what people send in. Events get cancelled, moved, and rescheduled, and the site won’t always know before you do. Call ahead for anything you’re driving to. Friends of Milo and Dead Pixel Design aren’t responsible for a wasted trip, a wrong phone number, or anything that happens at an event listed here.

The site is provided as it is, without a warranty of any kind. It’s run by volunteers on a small budget and it will occasionally be down.

Changes

These terms change when the site does, and the date at the top moves with them. Questions go to hello@visitmilomaine.org.
